7 ROPES TO UNTIE TO START 2019 WELL:

7 ROPES TO UNTIE TO START 2019 WELL:

It is the final hours of 2018.  In reflection of this year how would you define this year?

Maybe it was a great year for you, maybe it was a tough year for you, or it was simply just another year. However it was what is certain and important that you finish this year well and enter 2019 the right way.

As a kid at school I had to run in many running races.  I knew that starting well was important. If I didn’t start well it could cost me the race.  The same goes for our lives, when we exit a year and enter into a new year it sets us up for a new race. Natural shift in time, a natural shift in season gives us the chance to run a new race.  The question is will you start your 2019 race well?

Hebrew 12:1

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

This verse starts out reminding us of the cloud of witnesses looking on us.  Many running races as a kid my mum and dad would be looking on cheering me on.

You need to know there are a cloud of witnesses cheering you on.  Shouting “Come on, you can do it”...”Don’t give up, the best is yet to come”...”this next season is going to be the best you have ever experienced. Run, RUN!!!”

This cloud of witnesses is made up of angelic beings, I also imagine biblical characters cheering us on:

  • Abraham shouting “Keep believing in faith, like me the later part of your life is going to be greater than the former part of your life.”
  • King David “If I could defeat a giant as a teenager, you can conquer anything that gets in your way.”
  • Thomas shouting out “Don’t doubt like me, embrace the promises of God.”

Then I see Jesus shouting out “I died and rose for you and have given you everything you need. I’ve given you my word, I have given you keys to the kingdom, I have given you supernatural resurrection power. Keep running, your best days are ahead!!!!”

The key is to throw off everything that is hindering and entangling us so we can run.  In the early Olympic Games the men would run naked so they didn’t have any hinderances.

Can you imagine running the 100m sprint with rope tied around you?  You know to be successful in that race you need to get untied so you can run freely.  You may not be physically tied down but there are some unseen forces that will hinder us from running the race in 2019.

7 ROPES WE NEED TO THROW ASIDE:

  1. ROPE OF SIN

Rom 3:23 all have sinned...

To throw off the sin you simply  need to humble yourself before God and repent.  You might say “well you don’t know what I have done.”  Let me remind you of

Lamentations 3:22-23...His mercies never cease.  His mercies never come to an end...

There is nothing unforgivable. So take time to throw aside any sin that has you tangled up.

  1. ROPE OF DISAPPOINTMENT

We are all called to live by faith and sometimes we can set goals with dates and it just doesn’t happen.  Easy in our faith life to let the enemy whisper “it’s never going to happen.”

Remember this truth “God’s delay isn’t God denial.” Just because it didn’t happen in 2018 doesn’t mean it won’t happen in 2019.

Throw aside disappointment.

  1. ROPE OF HURT

In battles a soldier can take some shots.  If un-dealt with it could get infected and spread throughout the body.  It’s one thing to get hurt and another to let it spread.  The enemy will take shots and sometimes knock you down but you can’t lay there any longer in your infected hurt, you must get up again.

Proverbs 24:16 ... though a righteous man falls seven times, he rise again...

A wounded soldier needs to get checked out by a medical professional and apply the prescription to get back to normal.

This is where you need to get real. Don’t be like the wounded soldier that says “I’ll be right, I’ll get through it, i don’t really need to see a doctor.” No you need help!!!  Get real and ask yourself where have I been hurt and then take that to doctor Jesus and ask him to heal you!!

His prescription may require you to:

  • Repent from something.
  • Sit in his presence to receive his healing power.
  • To visit a pastor and get advice and prayer.
  • To get freedom prayer.
  • To see a Councellor or Psychologist.

Whatever his prescription you need to hear it and apply it.

Throw aside hurt and get healed!

  1. ROPE OF PRIDE.

This one is subtle.  Typically you think of someone that is boastfully proud about something but in our hearts we can carry pride about our mindsets and beliefs that stop us from getting help.  Here is a question that will help you discover if you have pride or not. “When was the last you asked for help? When was the last time you reached out for someone advice?”  If it’s been a while it is likely you are carrying pride.

Throw aside pride and seek help!

  1. ROPE OF FAILURE

Let me reminder you of this great statement “There are no failures in the kingdom of God, just resits.”  You may have tripped up  in 2018 and feel like a failure but that doesn’t mean God has written you off. No it means you get to resit the test in 2019. The key is taking time to learn what you feel you failed in 2018 so you can get it right in 2019.  If someone fails their driver licence test they don’t say “sorry you can never drive.” No they just say learn where you went wrong and get it right and come back again and let’s do it again.”

When a toddler begins to walk, it first learns to stand up. It takes a step and then falls over.  A parent doesn’t say “well I guess that means you are destined to not walk for the rest of your life.” No a parent picks them up and lets them go again. They will persevere until they learn to walk.

Just because you failed doesn’t make you a failure. It just means you failed.

Throw aside failure and go again!!!

  1. ROPE OF DEMONIC MINDSETS.

Henry Ford said “Whether you think you can or think you can’t you are exactly right.”

There were demonic assignments in 2018 that attacked your mindset. The devil knows if he can alter your thinking and get you to doubt your calling then he can have the upper hand and defeat your life!!!

Rom 12:2 do not be conformed to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Take some time to figure out the demonic mindset the devil has put in your mind. Cast those thoughts down (2 Cor 10:5) and replace it with God‘s truth and promises of your future.

When you take time to throw off these 7 invisible ropes that have held you back, you will find yourself free to run the race God has marked out for you in 2019.

Let me reinforce to you “2019 is going to be the greatest year of your life!!! “ For that to become a reality you must finish 2018 well.

Can I encourage you to take some time and answer the questions below to set you up for the best year of your life.

QUESTIONS & REFLECTION:

  1. Ask God what sin you need to repent of?
  2. List off all disappointment  you have sitting inside of you then pray and hand them over to God?
  3. List off all the people that you carry hurt from. In prayer hand it to Jesus and the pray a blessing on those that hurt you.
  4. Ask Jesus to heal all hurt and then ask for his prescription.
  • Do I need to see a pastor?
  • Do I need freedom prayer?
  • Do I need to see a Counsellor?
  • Do I need to see a Psychologist?
  • Do I simply just need to sit in his presence and let his healing power cleanse me.
  1. Ask God is there any areas of pride that I have to deal with?
  2. Ask yourself when was the last time I asked for help?
  3. Who do I need to reach out to in 2019, to get the help I need?
  4. Are there areas I feel like I have failed in? What can I learn from it?
  5. Take some time to ask God to point out demonic mindsets that the enemy has got you believing that aren’t from him.  Repent and cast them from you.
  6. Ask God to guide you to scriptural promises about your future. Write them down and review regularly to renew your thinking.

PRAYER:

Father help me throw the things aside that are only going to hinder me in 2019, so I can run the race you have for me.

In Jesus name!

PROMISE WHEN YOU WANT TO GIVE UP:

Philippians 1:6

Be confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you, will bring to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

This scripture is the injection you need when it feels like all hope is lost. Maybe your discouraged, maybe your have hurt, maybe you feel abandoned.

What ever the negative emotion running around in your mind, this scripture is the remedy.

Be confident in this...

The writer is saying if there is anything you need to have confidence in, it is in this scripture. Confidence in the theme of this scripture.

...He who began...

God impregnates us with dreams and desires.  It is these dreams that we need to be confident in.  We can hold on to dreams and desires that never came from God.  This scripture isn’t saying that he will complete something that never came from Him. It does not say “You who began in good work you, will bring to completion...” God is referring only to what He put in us.  This is why we need to ensure what we do with our lives is God’s plan.  There is a number of ways to test this but important you really know that what you are doing is God.  Good ideas aren’t necessarily God ideas.  So don’t fall into the trap of deceiving yourself into thinking it’s God just because it has good aspects to it.

Let’s presume that you know it’s God, that’s when you can have confidence in this scripture.

...He who began a good work in you...

God began a work in you many years ago. You went through years of training, years of life experience, years of relationships developing you into what you are today.   The dream that God started in you was a good thing. It might have had some painful things in it but it’s a good thing.

For example someone that decides to go to the gym and have a personal trainer. Good thing but you know you will l have some painful moments.  Thoughts of wanting to give up in the middle of a workout. Feelings of pain in those mussels the day after.  The pain wasn’t good at the time but the result of losing weight, the result of becoming stronger, the result of more healthier is what it’s all about.

You might be going through something right now that is painful.  God is saying BE CONFIDENT, in other words have a strong belief, have full assurance of, have no uncertainty that what He has started in you...

...He will bring to completion...

He will make a way despite what you are going through, despite the pain you are feeling, despite the betrayal you have gone through, despite the set back.  BE CONFIDENT THAT WHAT GOD HAS STARTED HE WILL BRING TO COMPLETION!!! One translation finishes by saying a flourishing finish.

...until the day of Christ Jesus.

God will continue this in you until Jesus returns. The dream He starts in you will continue beyond your years on earth if he doesn’t return. The dream will last generations.

So don’t take on the discouragement. Don’t let the devil whisper lies. Don’t get depressed. It may not on the surface look good but under the surface God is doing a good thing.  Like a gym workout God is strengthening you, God is making you healthier, God is pruning you for the next stage of growth.  Maybe those friends that left you, aren’t any good for your future.  Maybe the set back is God’s way of setting you up.

SO BE CONFIDENT!!!! He will bring that dream to completion that what He started in you!!!!

Prayer:

Father today help me be confident in your promise, help me be confident that you will bring the dream to completion. In Jesus name!!!

KNOWLEDGE IS THE CONNECTOR TO HIS POWER:

II Peter 1:3 NKJV

“as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,” has

What a great promise that his power has been given to us to affect and connect to ALL things.   ALL things, means ALL things.

What is his power going to effect and connect to?

It says life and godliness.

Life speaking of natural things and godliness speaking of spiritual things.

In other words God has given us power to affect and connect ALL things in natural and spiritual world.  To improve our natural life and spiritual life we have to tap into the power God gives us.

So then how do you tap into the power?

Re-read the verse...

His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him

It’s saying the power runs through the knowledge of him.

Let’s say you have a kettle and you want to boil water. The power is connect through a jug cord. With out the jug cord the power can’t flow.  The jug cord has no power, it’s just the thing that causes the power to flow from the power company to your kettle.  The jug cord is simply just a connector.  In the same way to we need a connector from to God who is all powerful to our circumstances.  What is that connector?

through the knowledge of Him...

The connector is knowledge of Him, His ways, His principles, and His laws.

If you want God to bring his power to any area of your life you need them to create a connection to that part of your life by connecting knowledge of what God says about that thing to your circumstance.

Let’s say you were sick in your body.  To connect to God’s healing power you would need to read up on and study what God’s says about healing.  As you gain knowledge you create a connection for God’s power to flow into that area of your life.

Let’s say you were experiencing lack and poverty you would then see what God says about money and as you increase in the knowledge in that space and as you follow his principles,  God’s power flows to that area of your life resulting in you experiencing prosperity and increase.

Let’s say you were suffering from condemnation.  Once again you would study his word and find that condemnation doesn’t come from him. That in fact he is a forgiven. As you gain that knowledge it requires your mind, the connection is made and God&rsqu
